Googong Dam Trail
It was such a magic day weather-wise, still very summery... which made the uphill parts a little hot, as there was a bit of walking on my part... fitness levels not what they should be! (Image 7 shows the trail and a moderate uphill part).
As per the trail write-up there were vantage points of the dam (image 6 is an example) and we saw wedge-tailed eagles and Eastern Grey kangaroos (image 5 - but no eagle shots as even with my zoom lens on they were too far above for a good shot)
There are a few options with the Googong Dam bike trails and we opted for the Western Foreshore ride, starting at Tin Hut car park - as you can see from the first image with the Tin Hut Dam sign on the bird hide.
It's amazing that we were the only ones out there and we didn't see anyone else until our return where we turned left to explore the little trail down to the southern end of the dam (last few images) where we saw someone on the dam fishing and then on our way back to the car we met a small group walking down with canoes.
The trail is not a loop so we only went so far before turning back. The ideal thing would be to have someone drop you off and meet you at the other end, or leave your car there for you so you could ride the length of the trail. Anyway, it was still lovely to explore a little section and we want to go back to do the Queanbeyan River Loop...
