Murrumbidgee Discovery Track, ACT

On Sunday we went for a hike along the Murrumbidgee Discovery Track from Kambah Pool to Pine Island... and what a discovery it was!

This walk leads on from the cycling we did in Urambi Hills Nature Reserve where we followed the Bicentennial National Trail, as we picked up a part of that trail on this walk (coming across Tuggeranong Creek and Tuggeranong Stone Wall again). This track is part of the Canberra Centenary Trail and actually starts at Casuarina Sands and goes all the way to Point Hut Crossing. So lots more to discover on this trail and in future we will take our bikes.

The top image is the sign located at Kambah Pool, where we started from. I never usually take images with people in them but the second image is my hiking buddy and infinitely patient person, as I stop every five minutes to take photos the first time we're on a trail, either cycling or walking... and I took heaps of photos along this track as there was so much to take in - you can see all the images here. You catch glimpses of the river at first and eventually come across a viewing platform that takes in sweeping views of the river in both directions. Further along and you come across the stunning Red Rocks Gorge. The track constantly changes from native bushland to open pastures, from being up high to being at the same level as the river and every step is thoroughly enjoyable.
